Legend of the Seas: Our Family's Mediterranean Adventure

Every year, we let fate decide our next family adventure. We spin a wheel, and each family member gets three chances to land on their dream destination. This year, our 11-year-old's choice won: sailing aboard Legend of the Seas through the Mediterranean.

Instead of cruising the Caribbean, we decided to make the experience even more memorable by exploring Europe before and after our sailing. It became the perfect blend of cruising, culture, history, and unforgettable family moments across Spain, France, and Italy.

Beach Day in Paradise

Our first stop brought us to the beautiful island of Mallorca, where we spent the day relaxing on crystal-clear beaches. It was the perfect way to kick off our Mediterranean adventure with sunshine, turquoise water, and laid-back island vibes.

🇪🇸 Barcelona, Spain

Standing in Awe of La Sagrada Família

Barcelona quickly became one of our favorite ports. Seeing the breathtaking Sagrada Familia in person was even more incredible than we imagined. The architecture, stained glass, and intricate details made it a true bucket-list experience.

A Ride to the Best Views

One of our favorite excursions was taking the Petite Train up the hill to Notre-Dame de la Garde. The ride itself was fun, but the panoramic views overlooking Marseille and the Mediterranean made the trip unforgettable.

Learning to Cook Like Italians

Rather than simply sightseeing, we chose a hands-on cooking class that became one of the most memorable experiences of the trip. Making authentic Italian dishes together gave us a deeper appreciation for the local culture—and delicious recipes to bring home.

The Perfect Ending

We ended our adventure in Rome by walking through thousands of years of history. Visiting the Colosseum was unforgettable, and after exploring Vatican City, we found one of the best pasta dinners we've ever had at a cozy restaurant just outside the Vatican.

Sometimes the simplest moments—sharing an amazing meal together after a full day of exploring—become the memories that last the longest.
